About LKNT
Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Tax Exempt Arts Organization of dancers, drummers and individuals dedicated to bringing African cultural art forms and valves to wide attention, with the goal of attaining appreciation for African traditions throughout a diversified community. "LKNT" views education as an essential part of it's mission as we promote and understanding of traditional African culture and history, as we know it. We promote the arts in all forms through performances, lectures, and workshops with the public. "LKNT" has offices in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. As one of New Orleans / Houston's premiere Contemporary and Traditional African Dance Troupes. "LKNT" will continue to broaden the cultural and artistic environment with our passionate and exciting presentation of Traditional and Contemporary dance, theatre and visual art presentations.(Due to Hurricane Katrina and Rita we have presently combined our New Orleans office with our Houston office).
LKNT Mission
Is to preserve, present and promote African and African American Traditional and Contemporary performing and fine arts, with the goal of attaining an appreciation for African Traditional and Contemporary arts throughout diversified communities. To make quality arts program available to the underserved and forgotten communities.
LKNT Vision
Is to see that every human being has an opportunity to experience a live performance, or pick up a brush with paint and see his/ her future come alive on canvas and have the opportunity to use all forms of the arts as a means of self-expression. Whether it be dance, music, drama, singing, quilting, or painting. Our vision is to also work closely with community leaders to build stronger artists communities.

Thanks for the comment Sistah Friend!I just want to say that what you ladies are doing is amazing and vital to our society today. May the Divine Creator continue to bless you all on this journey. I am looking forward to dialoging with you in the near future. In Oct of this year myself and two other women started the Sesa Woruba ( I transform myself) Rites of Passage for girls. We have 11 beautiful girls that are on thier way to a great start where culture is concerned. Dance is a major componant of the program as well. Seeing programs with a African Culture base makes me feel that as women we are stepping up to our responsibility as vital parts of bringing the vitality and spiritual aspect into our community in a fun but educational way.
